Standard residential furnaces draw combustion air from the living space and fail HUD code in a mobile home. Every system we stock uses sealed combustion and meets HUD installation requirements.
Mobile home HVAC cabinets are narrower and shallower than residential installations. Units must fit the existing cabinet without wall modification. We carry the compact footprint models that drop into standard mobile home mechanical spaces.
Avoid freight shipping costs on heavy HVAC equipment. Pick up the same day at any of our 7 North Carolina locations in Fayetteville, Erwin, Sanford, Goldsboro, Winston-Salem, and Ramseur.
Since 1994 our staff has matched Coleman Evcon and Nordyne systems and parts to specific mobile home models and years. Call us with your model number and we will confirm the correct unit or part before you order.
Yes. Mobile home HVAC units must meet HUD standards that standard residential systems do not. The sealed combustion requirement, cabinet dimensions, and static pressure ratings in mobile home ductwork all differ from site-built homes. Installing a non-approved unit can void the manufacturer warranty and fail a HUD inspection. Call us at 800-368-6208 and we will confirm whether a specific unit is approved for your home before you order.
Equipment costs vary by system type. A replacement furnace runs $1,000 to $2,500. An AC condenser runs $1,000 to $2,500. A complete packaged heat pump system runs $3,500 to $6,000. Installed costs including labor typically run $4,000 to $9,000 for a full system replacement. Call us at 800-368-6208 with your home size and system type for a specific equipment cost before you contact a contractor.
A package unit houses the furnace and air conditioner in a single outdoor cabinet. It connects to the home through the floor or an exterior wall and is the most common configuration in mobile homes because it requires no indoor mechanical closet. A split system uses a separate outdoor condenser and an indoor air handler located inside a closet or utility cabinet. Split systems are common in newer mobile homes or in homes where a package unit footprint does not fit. Not sure which type you have? Call us at 800-368-6208 and we will help you identify it from the model number.
Size is determined by the square footage of your home and the climate zone. A general rule is 20 to 25 BTU per square foot of conditioned space. A 14x70 mobile home has roughly 980 square feet and needs a 1.5 to 2 ton unit. A 16x80 home at 1,280 square feet typically needs a 2 to 2.5 ton unit. Heat, humidity, insulation quality, and window count can all push the number higher. Call us at 800-368-6208 with your home dimensions and zip code and we will confirm the right tonnage before you order.
