• Preventing Ground Settlement- Pier pads work to prevent the ground under a mobile home from settling by evenly distributing the weight of the home. Most mobile homes have a pier pad every 6 to 8 feet along the outside length of the home. They work together to distribute the entire load of the house evenly. They are required by the HUD due to the important role they play in stabilizing the home. 
• Supporting Tie-Down Components- Mobile home pier pads have more than one purpose, as they are also used to support other anchoring and tie-down components of mobile homes. They are designed with built-in attachment points for tie-down straps. Without these, there would be nothing to connect the tie-downs to.
