Coleman Evcon uses multiple variants of the same component across different EB series models. A limit switch from one model will not always seat or wire correctly in another. Always confirm the part number on the component coming out before ordering a replacement.
OEM parts are manufactured to Coleman’s exact specifications. OEM-compatible parts meet the same operational specs and fit the same mounting positions. For most homeowners, an OEM-compatible part at a lower price point performs identically in normal residential use. If your unit is under warranty, confirm with your warranty provider before installing non-OEM parts.
The limit switch is the most replaced component in Coleman Evcon electric furnaces. It trips when the furnace overheats and sometimes sticks open after repeated cycling. If your furnace runs but produces no heat, or shuts off after two minutes, the limit switch is the first part to check.
An electric furnace that takes too long to heat up, or only heats partially, often has a failed sequencer. Coleman Evcon units use two and three-stage sequencers, depending on the model. Ordering the wrong stage count means the furnace will not operate on its full heating cycle.
The flame sensor is only present in gas-fired Coleman Evcon models. If your furnace ignites, runs for 30 seconds, and then shuts off, a dirty or failed flame sensor is the likely cause. Pro tip: A dirty sensor can sometimes be cleaned with fine steel wool. However, because it is an inexpensive under-$20 part, most Coleman owners replace it outright during a troubleshooting session rather than risking a second system lockout a week later. Fresh part, problem solved.
Coleman Evcon flue assemblies are model-specific. Before ordering, confirm whether your furnace uses a horizontal or vertical flue run and the diameter of your existing vent pipe. Installing a flue assembly sized for a different configuration creates a combustion exhaust risk. If you are not certain of your venting configuration, call us before ordering. The model number is on the rating plate inside the furnace cabinet door. (Look for a silver or white metal decal. It's usually located on the interior right-hand wall or behind the removable front panel). Coleman Evcon uses similar-looking components across different series that are not cross-compatible. Without it, you are guessing. Write it down before you open a product page.
Every Coleman Evcon component has a stamped or printed part number on the body of the part itself. That number is the most reliable matching point. If the part is physically damaged and the number is gone, call us with your model number and we can cross-reference the correct replacement.
It helps to know what the furnace is doing before it fails, not just that it failed. Clicks but does not ignite. Runs for two minutes and shuts off. Blows air, but no heat comes through. On a gas Coleman Evcon, clicking without ignition usually points to either the igniter or the flame sensor. If the furnace clicks repeatedly and then shuts off with no flame, the igniter is trying to fire but failing. If the furnace ignites briefly and then cuts out within 30 seconds, the flame sensor is not detecting the flame and killing the gas supply as a safety measure. Both parts are stocked here. Confirm with your model number before ordering.
On an electric Coleman Evcon, cold air with the blower running usually means a failed sequencer or a tripped limit switch. The sequencer controls when the heating elements fire. A limit switch that is stuck open prevents the elements from energizing at all even though the blower operates normally. Check the limit switch first since it is the less expensive part.
Open the furnace cabinet door. The rating plate is attached to the inside of the cabinet, usually on the right wall or the back panel. The model number begins with EB for electric furnace units or with a different prefix for gas models. Write down the full string including all letters and numbers. That full number is what you need to match parts accurately.
Not always. Coleman Evcon manufactured home furnaces use components specific to their model series and wiring configurations. Some components share part numbers with residential Coleman units and some do not. Always confirm the part number from your specific unit rather than assuming cross-compatibility from the brand name alone.
