Brass Compression Fittings

Brass compression fittings are connecting pieces used in plumbing that join pipes together easily, without the need for sealants or soldering. They are called compression fittings because they actually squeeze and compress the pipe into the fitting to create a watertight seal. They are easy to use and can be applied with your hands and then tightened with a wrench. The brass material is strong and corrosion-resistant, making it ideal for hot water or gas. At American Supply, we carry the brass compression fittings you need for your plumbing needs.

Brass Compression Fittings For Every Connection Need

Our brass compression fittings come in a variety of styles, including:

  • Tee - Used to connect three pipes of copper, aluminum, and thin-wall tubing at 90 degrees.
  • Union - Used to connect two pipes (usually made of copper, aluminum, or plastic) easily.
  • Female Connector - Required to complete the seal, attached to the male connector.
  • Reduce Compression Union - Used to connect pipes that have different outer diameters.
  • Brass Compression Ferrule - Also known as an olive or sleeve, and is responsible for compressing the tubing that creates the secure seal.
  • Brass Face Bushing - Used to reduce the pipe size, applied after the olive or ferrule compresses the pipe.

Considerations Before Purchasing Brass Compression Fittings

Before you purchase your new brass compression fittings, there are a few things you should keep in mind, including:

  • Outer Diameter (OD) - Before purchasing, measure the outside diameter of the pipe you are connecting. The size of the fittings depends on the pipe's OD. You will not get a proper seal if the measurements are off.
  • Connection Type - Double-check the connection on the compression fittings to know if you need a male or female thread. Also, check the thread sizes to ensure they’re compatible.
  • Fitting Style - The fitting that you choose should depend on the type of connection you are making, as well as the direction the pipes are going. If you need to make more than one connection, a tee brass compression fitting is recommended, while a union only connects two pipes.
